Our Mission

We want to make an impact in our community and throughout the world. Why? People matter to God! Here is how:

Our Mission

To lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Our Vision

We are creating churches that sacrifice to reach the next generation.

Our Strategy

We are inviting, equipping, and challenging people to pursue intimacy with God, live in community with believers, and seek the lost.

Our History

In 1982 Community Heights Church was founded as a mission from Lebanon Baptist Church. The first pastor at the mission was Lester Ferguson. David Gardner served as the second pastor from January 1983 until December 1985. In the summer of 1985, under the leadership of these two men, Phase One of the present structure was started.

In 1986, Lebanon VA local Allen Jessee came as interim pastor. Phase One was completed under his leadership in May 1986; and in the summer of 1986, Allen was called to be the Lead Pastor.

The mission was organized into a church on May 18, 1988.  In the spring of 1989, Phase Two of the present structure was started. The first service for this structure was held on December 17, 1989. The dedication for Phase Two was May 20, 1990.

In the summer of 1994, Community Heights voted to build a Family Life Center. Construction began in June and the facility was completed in August of 1995. In 1996, we partnered with the Association to build the current office building.

In 2006, the vision of starting a multisite location in Lebanon, VA was casted. Community Heights Church at Lebanon launched its first service at Lebanon High School on Sunday, September 7, 2008 with Timmy Brown serving as the Campus Pastor. On Sunday, May 29, 2011, the church broke ground for a permanent site in Lebanon and on January 12, 2012 had their first service at the new location. On September 1, 2015 Community Heights Church at Lebanon was sent out as a self-sustaining church to serve the Lebanon community!

With the launch of the new campus in 2008, Craig Barber assumed the Campus Pastor position at the Richlands location where he had been serving as the Associate Pastor since 2000. From January to May 2014, Craig Robinson served as the Interim Pastor.

In June 2015, we welcomed Brian Hoffman as the new Lead Pastor of Community Heights Church at Richlands! In October 2015, Zack Collier came on staff as the Executive Pastor.

While these men and others intricately involved in the history of Community Heights Church were the vessels used to make this dream a reality, our God is the ultimate author of this story. Community Heights and the families here are excited to serve and follow Him by leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ!
